Pablo earned his Bachelor’s degree in his home country, Colombia, where he studied Jazz saxophone. While earning his Bachelor’s, he played all around Colombia and taught privately. Since 2003, Pablo has taught at Universidad Distrital of Bogota. In the Spring of 2019, he earned his Master’s in Jazz and Popular Music at Conservatori Liceu at Barcelona, Spain. While at Barcelona, Pablo had the opportunity to play “Kind of Blue” music to celebrate its 60th anniversary of that record at Museo Picasso. Pablo has performed in many jazz festivals such as Jazz al Parque (Colombia 2010, 2011, 2014, 2015, 2016), Panama Jazz Fest (Panama 2015), Jazz Ahead (Germany 2015), Bonn Jazz Fest (Germany 2016), Masala Music Market (Germany 2016) and many others.
My teaching philosophy is focused on developing practice skills, show you how to learn is my goal. Most importantly, creating healthy habits of practicing will increase your ability to achieve you musical goals.
One part of my practice routine is keeping the music fun no matter what you are practicing. If it is fun for you it will be fun for your audience. All practice should be taken seriously, but that does not mean it should be tedious. I always encourage students to make music at the highest level, but it does not mean boring or painful.
Rock – Aerosmith
Pop – Prince
Funk – James Brown
Jazz – It is always hard to me, there are many great musicians, but Coltrane is my official number one.
Classical – Beethoven
“But life is very short and anxious for those who forget the past, neglect the present, and fear the future.” Seneca
Long story short, I heard John Coltrane’s version of "My One and Only Love" and I understood that my desire was to emulate his playing.
